THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE LEAVE LEGACY SYSTEMS SUCH AS THOSE EVOLVED DURING COLONIAL RULE TO THRIVE AND FESTER
What you see here is the results of those who inherited the seats of power, authority and control after so called independence neglecting their own kind and leaving the same system of colonial rule intact in place. Rape as an "act" in the African context is nothing more than a subset of the conditions that dominated life and existence during the harsh conditions of colonial rule.
Thus, for those in positions of power/authority ever since so-called independence to have left the remnants of that sick colonial rule governance system intact to fester they too are guilty of committing grievous crimes against humanity because they fully well know that what we see could easily be controlled if not eradicated if they in power/authority had made a honest effort to CARE for their own kind.
Colonial rule with all its maladies may have put this set of conditions there and steered its course but it was African leadership that permitted them to remain due to a lack of genuine CARE and a strong frolic desire to imitate their departing oppressors in a grandeur world of illusions of modern day aristocracy and serfdom.
What is now needed is a genuine honest appraisal of the standing of those who are labelled as "black" globally (as this is not a South Africa issue as it impacts all of us no matter where we are) as only when we acknowledge our own doings will we then be better positioned to commence the job of figuring out genuine solutions to many of our legacy and self-created conundrums.
ASK YOURSELF WHAT DO YOU REALLY KNOW ABOUT THE IMPACT AND LEGACIES OF COLONIAL RULE AND THE SLAVERY AFTERMATH? WHAT RESEARCH INTO IT HAVE YOU TRULY DONE AS A RACE???
HE WHO DOES NOT UNDERSTAND HIS OWN HISTORY IS DOOMED NOT ONLY TO REPEAT IT BUT TO STUMBLE AND FALL REPEATEDLY OVER IT!
